Disney Dining Calculator
The Disney Dining Plan Calculator is designed to help you estimate the cost of dining at Disney World, allowing you to compare the price of purchasing a Disney Dining Plan versus paying for meals out-of-pocket. This tool is particularly useful for planning your budget and making the best decisions about your dining options during your stay. Here’s how the calculator works and an explanation of the exact formula used for the calculations:
How the Calculator Works:
- Add Your Trip Details: Start by entering the number of nights you’ll be staying, the number of adults (ages 10 and up), and the number of children (ages 3-9) in your party.
- Select a Dining Plan: Choose between the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan, the Regular Disney Dining Plan, or no dining plan to compare costs directly.
- Calculate Cost: Once you’ve added your details and selected a dining plan, click the “Calculate Cost” button. The calculator then gives you the total cost of your selected dining plan versus the estimated cost of paying for meals out-of-pocket which can be pricey if you eat like me.
The Formula:
The Disney World Dining calculator uses different formulas based on whether a dining plan is selected or if the calculation is for out-of-pocket expenses.
- For Dining Plans:
- The cost is calculated by multiplying the per night price of the selected dining plan by the number of nights and the number of people (adults and children, with different prices for each) in your party.
- Example formula for the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan:
(Number of Adults * Adult Price per Night + Number of Children * Child Price per Night) * Number of Nights
- For Out-of-Pocket Expenses:
- The calculator estimates the cost of meals without a dining plan by assuming an average cost per meal and multiplying this by the total number of meals your party will have during your stay.
- It assumes 2 meals per day per person, multiplied by the number of days and the average cost of a meal.
- Example formula for out-of-pocket expenses:
(Number of Adults + Number of Children) * 2 Meals per Day * Number of Nights * Average Meal Cost
