How Does the Hair Growth Calculator Work?
The hair growth calculator is simple to use, anyone can use it to find out how fast their hair grows, note that there’s no set growth rate and our numbers are based on averages through out the world, and here’s how.
Gender
Select your gender (Male or Female) as some hair types, such as beards, are mostly applicable to males, and this choice can affect the maximum lengths used in the calculations.
Age
Enter your current age, which is used to estimate how long your hair can continue to grow considering the average human lifespan and typical hair growth cycles.
Hair Type
Choose the type of hair you’re interested in measuring (e.g., Scalp Hair, Eyebrows, Beard, Body Hair, or Pubic Hair). Each hair type has different average growth rates and maximum lengths.
Current Hair Length
Enter the current length of your hair in centimeters. This measurement helps calculate the remaining distance to your hair’s maximum length or a desired length.
How It Works
The calculator uses predefined average growth rates that we entered and maximum lengths for different hair types, made for each gender when applied. Here’s the process:
Determine Growth Rate and Maximum Length: Based on the selected hair type and gender, the calculator identifies the average monthly growth rate (in cm per month) and the maximum length (in cm) your hair type can typically grow.
Calculate Desired Length: The calculator estimates the maximum length for your hair, considering your current age and assuming that hair growth will continue until the age of 65 or your current age if older. This way, it provides a cap of the calculation giving you a maximum number, because most hair doesn’t just grow forever.
Calculate Growth Duration: Using the difference between your current hair length and the estimated desired length, the calculator will give you the number of months and years it will take for your hair to reach this length at the specified growth rate that we added based on averages.
How Fast Does Scalp (Head) Hair Grow?
Hair on the head usually grows pretty fast. It grows an average of 1.25 cm per month which is faster than any other body hair, except for the beard, which is also the same 1.25 cm per month on average. This of course assumes there is no baldness and other factors such as age.
The maximum length hair can grow varies based on age and gender.
Washing your hair every day is important to maintain a long healthy hair cycle. Scalp hair should be washed every day especially if you work outside, don’t wear hats, and work in a windy environment. Your hair can attract all sorts of critters and particles from the air. Wash your hair daily to keep it clean.
How Fast Does Beard Hair Grow?
Beard hair grows super fast on men, and extremely slow for women. Beards can grow up to 2 or 3 feet in length on men at a rate of 1.25cm per month. It’s important to know that some beards do have a maximum length and can stop growing after some time.
Most men grow beards but this is dependent on genetic factors. Some men only grow straggly uneven beards and some men can grow nice thick beards that are easy to maintain. These numbers have a wide variety and can range greatly, we use averages in our Hair Growth Calculator.
How Fast Do Eyebrows Grow?
The true answer is slow. Eyebrow hair grows at a rate of an estimated 0.15 cm per month and only grows to a maximum of 2 cm due to their short growth cycle. Eyebrows can be trimmed once in a while especially the unibrow in men which can grow together enough to touch the other brow.
So when someone cuts your eyebrow as a prank, don’t worry, it will grow back in 2-3 months.
How Fast Does Chest Body Hair Grow?
Body hair (including chest, back, arms, legs, and pubic hair) grows fairly slow in general, around 0.5cm per month and usually grows to a maximum of 2cm in some cases. Body hair on women generally grow much slower and may never reach the full 2cm.
Pubic hair also grows at a slower pace at 0.5cm per month and can reach a maximum of 5 cm. Pubic hair should be cleaned daily and in some cases trimmed for hygienic reasons.
